Morgan will forever hold a special place in this editor’s heart. It was during a supply chain management class in 2002 at the University of Warwick that the professor showed a video featuring the late Sir John Harvey Jones on his popular show, Troubleshooter. In it, Harvey Jones acted as consultant to a wide variety of organizations, including Morgan Motor Cars. His suggestion that they make modest improvements to their production process was met with stiff opposition both from management and workers, alike.
Eventually, the company did make changes, and has since gone odd to make a couple of additions to their model lineup, including a 3-wheeled version, which is the only model available in the USA, due to issues with the safety bags that Morgan use in their models. Still built with a wooden frame as Auto Car’s picture gallery shows, we can only hope they can make changes to get a few more onto these shores. The only versions allowed into the U.S. pre-date the safety restrictions.
