GM Prototype Car

Marcos Mantis XP
This week’s Link Of The Week feature includes a really cool European-based web site. The Blenheim Gang is a nicely organized web site that features beautiful photographs of cars from a variety of eras. It also features a decent car guide, forum, and extensive road tests. The only catch is that the site seems to be entirely in French. Still, brush up on your Francais, and check out the link below. And even if you don’t speak French, you should still click on the link because the Marcos Mantis XP is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The Denis Adam’s designed shares many features of the venerable and ultra-rare Adams Probe 16 featured in the movie A Clockwork Orange.
In particular, you should click on this link of the Marcos Mantis XP. For those of you not familiar with Marcos, they are a now defunct auto maker with a rich heritage in racing.
Enjoy!
If you haven’t been out driving in Germany, particularly on the famous Autobahns, you really need to go. Rent a fast car and map out every last road in Germany without a speed limit.
But unlike America, the Germans take the driving laws seriously. Passing on the right or staying in the left most lanes (they are strictly passing lanes) will get you a fine, as will having a car in less than excellent driving condition. Road rage is also a big “no-no”.
Germany is great too, because they do allow you to use (temporarily) your American driving license. Trouble is that the petrol is expensive and some of the road signs can be challenging. But fortunately, Beyond the KM has been trolling the internet and found the solution:
Meet: Getting Around Germany
Check it out and when you find yourself blazing down the Autobahn and 300 KM/hour in that Porsche 911, you’ll thank us.
Speed:Sport:Life has a great article this week on a new Audi S5.
Why is this the link of the week? Because the author has just purchased a bright GREEN Audi S5. Unusual yes, but tasteful? You be the judge!

So for this week’s link of the week, we take a Jalopnik post, which has compiled a list of the worst (and most expensive) car crashes of 2009. Lots of pricy Italian carbon fibre smashed in unflattering shapes!

So this week’s link come courtesy of a new site called TrueCar.com
TrueCar provides shoppers with free price reports that show what buyers in their market area paid for new vehicles, including options. It also provides data on dealer cost, factory invoice prices and sticker prices. The site also uses some nifty graphs to help buyers decide whether or not the offer price from a dealer is a good one.
You might hold off buying a new car until Congress passes a scrappage program as in Germany, and soon in the UK.
See the following link for a map of the vehicular demographics of the USA, courtesy of Jalopnik:

Notice, too, the minutiae of European cars across the country. Com’mon Europe, sell sell sell!

If you’ve ever said to yourself, “damn, I wish there was a Facebook or MySpace for people who love cars!”
Well, wait no more! Check out this week’s link:
For the weekend, a forum, torrent, and media site for those obsessed with automotives:
Sign up and have fun! Great source for information!
The Gumball Rally has now reached international proportions. The concept is simple, take your supercar across the continent, e.g. Europe, and try not to crash or get arrested along the way.
